Gustav Klimt is a well-known Austrian painter and the most prominent representative of the Art Nouveau style. Klimt was born in a small town near Vienna in 1862; his father was an artist-engraver who encouraged his son’s interest in painting. Klimt rose to prominence after graduating from the Vienna School of Decorative Arts, thanks to his numerous murals and murals for theaters. In 1890-91, the artist worked on frescoes of the arches of the grand staircase in the Vienna Museum of Art History, using clear silhouettes and ornamental elements in his subjects for the first time.
